Telephone scam alert

The Fillmore County Sheriff’s Office would like to advise citizens that there has been an increase in spoofed telephone number scams. Spoofing is when a caller deliberately falsifies the information transmitted to your caller ID.  Scammers often spoof a local business or government agency number.  We have recently received reports of the Sheriff’s Office number being spoofed. If you receive such a call and have concerns that it may be a spoofed number, feel free to contact us at (507) 765-3874. We can verify if the call is legitimate or not.
