In the article “Houston citizens comment on building referendum” on page 29 of the July 10 issue, it stated Joe Twaiten was in the class of 1939. He actually graduated from Houston in 1953. Twaiten shared at the meeting that he owns two houses the same size in Rushford and Houston; last year the taxes on the Houston house were twice as much as the Rushford house. Twaiten felt taxes shouldn’t be raised to pay for something that was wanted — not needed. He noted that when he was in school, they brought Marty Robbins to town to help raise money for a project they wanted; he suggested that the school do a fundraiser rather than raise taxes.
