In the “Kingsland Officials Looking to Keep Athletes Successful” article on page 29 of the July 22, 2024, issue, due to a miscommunication, not all of the pertinent information was included. It was stated that the first aspect of the referendum on which the district would be voting was for the replacement of the school’s roof. While that is true, the funds being requested would also cover tuck pointing to the exterior of the building, repaired asphalt, concrete and blacktop, and other general maintenance to the facility.
Additionally, the new gym, which is the topic of the second half of the referendum, will be primarily used for physical education classes. As of now, the gym at Kingsland is the limiting factor in the class schedule, and everything else runs around its availability. The addition of a second gym would alleviate that problem and provide spaces for not only the PE classes, but also for improved locker rooms, athlete practice spaces, and weight rooms, which will benefit every student at Kingsland, not just the athletes.
