The City Council of Lanesboro, Minnesota has approved amendments to Chapter 151: Land Use of the Lanesboro City Code. The key changes are as follows:
- Addition and revision of definitions of terms.
- Revisions to the Single-Family Residential District (R-1) city code to include:
- Addition of permitted uses of bed and breakfasts with two rooms or less;
- Addition of accessory uses of the renting of rooms by a resident family for lodging or vacation dwelling purposes, and not more than two rooms in a one-family dwelling;
- Addition of conditional uses for inns and bed and breakfasts with 3 to 6 rooms, and golf courses, excluding miniature golf courses;
- Revision of lot area to 10,000 square feet and lot width to 75 feet.
- Revisions to the Multiple Family Residential District (R-2) city code to include:
- Addition of permitted uses of bed and breakfasts with two rooms or less;
- Addition of accessory uses of the renting of rooms by a resident family for lodging or vacation dwelling purposes, and not more than two rooms in a one-family dwelling;
- Addition of conditional uses for inns and bed and breakfasts with 3 to 6 rooms, and golf courses, excluding miniature golf courses;
- Revision of lot area to 10,000 square feet and lot width to 75 feet for one and two-family dwellings;
- Specific conditional use standards for a state licensed residential facility serving from 7 through 16 persons.
- Revisions to the Residential Business District (R-3) city code to include:
- Addition of permitted uses of bed and breakfasts with two rooms or less;
- Addition of accessory uses of the renting of rooms by a resident family for lodging or vacation dwelling purposes, and not more than two rooms in a one-family dwelling;
- Addition of conditional uses for inns and bed and breakfasts with 3 to 6 rooms, and golf courses, excluding miniature golf courses;
- Specific conditional use standards for a state licensed residential facility serving from 7 through 16 persons.
- Revisions to the Downtown Commercial District (C-1) city code to include:
- Addition of permitted uses of lodging services provided by a hotel, motel, inn, hostel, or lodge;
- Addition of permitted uses of vacation dwelling units as defined by this Chapter, such as Vacation Rentals by Owner (VRBO) and Airbnb, provided they are located above the first floor level.
- Revisions to the Highway Commercial District (C-2) city code to include:
- Revision of lot area to 10,000 square feet and lot width to 100 feet.
- Addition of city ordinance 151.49 regarding regulation of donations of public art, memorials, and monuments to the City of Lanesboro.
- Addition of city ordinance 151.57 regarding interim use permits, including the purpose, application process, public hearing requirements, consideration of request, standards, conditions of approval, no presumption of approval, effect of approval, and termination.
- Addition of city ordinance 151.49 Donations of Public Art, Memorials, and Monuments.

This Ordinance shall become effective upon publication.
