Established in 1856 and the current building completed in 1865, the historic Lenora United Methodist Church in rural Fillmore County will be the place for beautiful and meaningful Christmas services in December. The old church, which is original to the period of the 1860s, will be decorated in the festive beauty of the Christmas season. Services will be held December 17 at 3 p.m., 5 p.m., and 7:30 p.m.; and on December 23 at 5 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. The church services will feature Christmas music, carols and the wonder of the season. The story of the birth of Jesus Christ will be told from the Gospel of Luke. People are invited to bring non-perishable food for local food shelves and good-condition winter clothing for persons in need. An offering will be received for the ongoing ministry and maintenance of the Lenora Church which is on the National Register for historic buildings. The Lenora Pioneer Church Society reaches out to share the good news of Christmas as people are invited to come hear the story of the birth of Jesus in this pioneer church building in Fillmore County. The Lenora Church is located off of Fillmore County Road 24 in the small village of Lenora, Minn. Following the services, refreshments and Christmas goodies will be served in the Lenora House next door.
