Early childhood is a time for exploring, discovering, and learning. That is the foundation of the Chatfield early childhood programs.
Early Childhood Family Education (ECFE) provides opportunities for parents and children (infants, toddlers, and preschoolers) to interact in an inviting, stimulating environment. Age appropriate activities, stories and songs challenge and engage our youngest learners. Parents also have an opportunity to learn from each other and from discussions facilitated by a licensed parent educator. ECFE classes and special events are open to all families with young children.
Preschool is an important time in a child’s life. It’s an opportunity to develop skills and abilities, practice and improve self-regulation, and to prepare for entrance to kindergarten. More importantly, it is a time to become part of a school community. Preschoolers learn to play and work with their classmates, develop relationships with teachers, and meet challenges in a caring, supportive environment. The best way for preschoolers to learn is through play. Teachers create intentional play opportunities that enhance vocabulary, support themes, and give children an opportunity to practice new skills. Chatfield Preschool has received a 4 Star Parent Aware Rating. This rating assures families that the preschool is a high quality program that meets the standards set by the State of Minnesota.
Chatfield Preschool has classes for four- and five-year-olds (four by September 1, 2019) and three- and four-year-olds (three by September 1, 2019). The goal is to make preschool accessible to all families in our community. Early Childhood Scholarships are available, based on financial need, to cover tuition. Full day classes are available for families who struggle with transportation in the middle of the day. Children in the four- and five-year-old classes may also ride the bus to and from school with a bus buddy. Child care before and after school is provided through the school age care program.
