The May 27 meeting of the Chatfield City Council was quite brief.
The 2022 Water and Storm project was concluded in December 2024. Public Works recommended closing the project. A sum of $53,399.70 will be transferred to the corresponding 2022A Dept Service Fund.
Mayor appointments for the Library Board of Trustees include Lisa Martin, Todd Johnson, Ann Halloran, Kathleen Kamnetz, Sandy Sullivan, Karen Greenslade, George Spangler, Debra Collum and Councilor Dave Frank.
Mayor John McBroom reported that he and councilor Mike Urban had visited a civics class at the high school for a question-and-answer session. The students asked good questions.
City Administrator Michelle Peterson reported she had given a presentation at an Olmsted County board meeting on the previous Tuesday. She also reported that the city has begun working on the 2026 budget. A road project for this year is being considered.
Beth Carlson noted the city’s swimming pool will be opening this weekend.
A one pay-step increase was approved for Kevin Landorf, effective on the employment anniversary.
A one pay-step increase was approved for Dan Funk, effective on the employment anniversary.
An exempt permit for lawful gambling for the Chatfield Youth Trap Organization was approved.
The use of Groen Park for Tuohy’s Annual Picnic on August 21 was authorized.
Councilor Pam Bluhm reporting for Public Services committee said this year’s citywide cleanup resulted in a volume increase of 2,000 pounds over last year. The invoice for this year’s cleanup (May 5-9) totaled $16,007.45. Also, options for the sale of the 2017 squad car were discussed.
Councilor Dave Frank reporting for the Park and Recreation committee said information on the Driftless Hiking Trail was provided. Possible options for the relocation of the tennis courts were discussed. Due to the fact that existing courts are in need of repairs, the possibility of other sites is under consideration. The culvert in Mill Creek Park needs to be repaired. Information concerning a Mill Creek easement was presented; no action taken.
