Chatfield Advertises for Community Development Director

October 21, 2024 by Karen Reisner

Fillmore County Journal - Chatfield MN

A motion to post for a Community Development Director was approved at the October 14 city council meeting.

Councilors had approved the advertisement for both an EDA director and a Zoning Administrator at the September 9 meeting. The closing date for these postings was September 30. Due to the fact that no applications were received for the Zoning Administrator and three for the EDA director, City Administrator Michele Peterson requested opening and posting for the position of Community Development Director. The 40 hour per week position would be responsible for both Planning & Zoning and Economic Development related activities.

This hire will report to the city administrator and will communicate with the city council, Planning & Zoning Commission, EDA, city staff, along with citizens, developers, contractors and local, state, or federal agencies.

Other Business in Brief

  • A resolution was adopted appointing election judges for the November 5 general election.
  • A resolution was adopted approving an agreement between the city and Olmsted County which allows the county to annually retain all VOTER (voting operations, technology, and election resources) account funds received.
  • A nonprofit tax-exempt permit for lawful gambling (raffle) was approved for the Chatfield Education Foundation.
  • Councilor Mike Urban gave a report on the Public Works committee. He explained recommendations for replacements of a loader, street sweeper, and a snow pusher will be on the city council’s October 28 agenda.
  • Councilor Paul Novotny reported on the Personnel/Budget committee. Financial Management, Accounting Procedures, and Personnel Policies are being reviewed. SemcacTransportation annual funding request ($5,925) was also reviewed.
  • Mayor John McBroom asked people not to blow leaves into the street. He noted there have been reports of golf carts on the Mill Creek Park trail. McBroom made it clear that “no” motorized vehicles are allowed on the Mill Creek Park trail.
