The Board of Education of Independent School District No. 299, Caledonia, Minnesota, met in a regular school board meeting in the elementary building room #162. The meeting was called to order by Chair Mike Peterson at 6:00 p.m. The Pledge of Allegiance was said. The school board members present were Derek Adamson leaving at 6:50 p.m., Tim Gunn, Leigh King, Melissa Marschall, Mike Peterson, Daniel Small, Spencer Yohe, and student school board representatives Addison Fruechte and Samantha Peters. Also present were Craig Ihrke, Nathan Boler, John Wahlstrom, Barb Meyer, Karen Schiltz, Julie Augedahl, and Kaitlyn Longhauser.
Moved by Spencer Yohe, seconded by Derek Adamson to approve the agenda as presented. Motion carried by a unanimous vote. Moved by Spencer Yohe, seconded by Leigh King, to approve the resolution accepting donations. Motion carried by a unanimous vote. Whereupon, said Resolution was declared duly adopted. Moved by Derek Adamson, seconded by Melissa Marschall to accept the school audit report as presented by Clifton, Larson, Allen, LLP. Motion carried by a unanimous vote. A Truth in Taxation Hearing was held, and a presentation was shared during this hearing. There were no community members in attendance to ask questions during the hearing. Moved by Mike Peterson, seconded by Daniel Small to adopt the final levy certification for 2025 in the amount of $2, 511, 818.15. Motion carried by a unanimous vote. Moved by Derek Adamson, seconded by Melissa Marschall to approve the following consent agenda items: approval of November 18, 2024, Regular School Board Minutes; approve the electronic transfers and bills due and payable amounting to $652,978.70; approve the 2024-2025 licensed seniority list and the 2024-2025 support staff seniority list as presented; approve the request to have Mr. Spencer Hackler designated as our District LEA Representative for Special Education meetings; accept the resignation of Ryan Pitts as the assistant football coach effective immediately with thanks for his past years in this position at our school district; accept the resignation of Tricia Babinski as the assistant school musical advisor after the 2024-2025 school year with thanks for her years of service in this position; ratify the contract for Fisher Klatt as the Juvenile Detention Center teacher at BA/1 (pro-rated) year at $27,242.25 beginning December 6, 2024, school year; and ratify the contract for Maggie Gillespie as a full-time special education paraprofessional at II/6 years at $17.08 per hour beginning December 16, 2024. Motion carried by a unanimous vote. Member Spencer Yohe introduced the Resolution Establishing Combined Polling Places for Multiple Precincts and Designating Hours During Which the Polling Places Will Remain Open for Voting for School District Elections and moved it adoption. The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Member Derek Adamson and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: Derek Adamson, Tim Gunn, Leigh King, Melissa Marschall, Mike Peterson, Daniel Smal, and Spencer Yohe. The following voted against the same: None. Whereupon said the resolution was declared duly passed and adopted. Member Mike Peterson introduced the resolution and moved its adoption, Directing the Administration to Make Recommendations for Reductions in Programs and Positions and Reasons Thereof. The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Member Daniel Small and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: Derek Adamson, Tim Gunn, Leigh King, Melissa Marschall, Mike Peterson, Daniel Smal, and Spencer Yohe. The following voted against the same: None. Whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted. Moved by Tim Gunn, seconded by Leigh King to table the School District Facilities and Equipment Policy #902 until the regular school board meeting in January. Motion carried by a vote 6/7. Absent was Director Derek Adamson. Moved by Mike Peterson, seconded by Leigh King to adjourn the meeting at 7:33 p.m. Motion carried by a unanimous vote.
