Cal/SG boys host, win track quadrangular

The Caledonia/Spring Grove boys took first place in nine events while winning a home quadrangular track and field meet with Cotter, Wabasha-Kellogg and La Crescent-Hokah on April 28. The Warrior girls finished fourth.

Senior Tysen Grinde, junior Josh Beardmore and sophomore Fischer Wait were each three-time winners. Grinde won both the high jump (6 feet even) and the triple jump (39 feet, 1 inch) as well as part of the winning 4 x400M relay (3:56.92). Grinde also had a second-place long jump (19-03). Joining Grinde on the first-place 4x400M relay were seniors Eric Mauss and Lyle Myhre plus sophomore Ethan Stendel.

Wait won the 200-meter dash (23.46 seconds) and Beardmore had the best long jump (20 feet, 4 inches). They both ran on two first-place relay teams (4×100 Meters, 4x200M) along with sophomores Owen Staggemeyer and Eli Staggemeyer.

Junior Jordan Tornstrom had a winning discus distance (150-feet, 8 inches) while junior Ethan Crouch took top honors with a shot put of 37-05.5. Junior Tyler Stendel was second in shot put (36-00.25) and fourth in discus (110-00). Junior Mason Banse was the discus runner-up (118-05).

The top five places in each event earned team points. In the 100-meter dash, Hunter Holland ran third, Gavin Plantz fourth and Sylas Flatin fifth. Behind Wait at 200 meters, Gabe Curley was third and Owen Staggemeyer fifth.

The Warrior boys had the two best times in the 4 x100M relay with the second-best time run by Flatin, Curley, Owen Klug and Ethan Stendel.

The boys’ highest-scoring event was long jump with Beardmore first, Grinde second and Ethan Stendel third. Next was discus with Tornstrom, Banse and Tyler Stendel taking first, third and fourth, respectively.

Girls
The Warrior girls won their 4 x100M relay (54.11) with legs run by seniors Kloe Jore, Ayshia Gay and Charlese Walk plus freshman Nicole Banse. Finishing second in the 4x200M relay were Banse, Gay, Walk and sophomore Sienna Augedahl. Also, Augedahl placed second in high jump (4-02),

The girls’ top team-scoring event (9 points) was long jump with Banse second (14-10), Gay third (14-02.5) and sophomore Breanna VanGundy fifth. Next was shot put where eighth grader Jessica Stendel was second (26-01.5) and Jore third (25-07). VanGundy placed fifth in discus (68-01).

In the 100M dash, Banse was third (13.45) and Gay fifth (13.54). Walk ran fourth in the 200M dash.
