C. Wayne Thorson obituary, Fillmore County Journal

C. Wayne Thorson, 91, of rural Spring Valley, Minn., passed away, Sunday, August 4, 2024, at Care & Rehab, Ostrander, Minn.

Carl “Wayne” Thorson was born February 1, 1933, to Carl William and Dena (Solsrud) Thorson in Bennington Township, Ostrander, Minn. He was Baptized in Christ April 9, 1933, and confirmed in Christ October 13, 1946. He was a lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Ostrander.

He married the love of his life, Janelle Stockdale, November 1, 1958, at Bennington Lutheran Church. He was the proud father of four daughters, Pamela, Debbie, Peggy and Connie.

He was a lifelong farmer. His love of Minneapolis Moline tractors was prominent on his farm. He enjoyed going to tractor pulls and auctions. He loved reading western books, watching western movies, and listening to polka and old country music.

He will be greatly missed by his family, but we take comfort in knowing that he is with his Savior, Jesus Christ.

Wayne is survived by his wife of 65 years, Janelle; and his daughters Pamela (Mark) Sinning, Debbie (Robert) Sanford, Peggy (Patrick) Davis,  and Connie (Blaine) Moe. He has 14 grandchildren, Kayla Sinning, Kari Sinning, Nicholas (Emily) Sanford, Matthew Sanford, Thomas (Ashley) Sanford, Bryce (Nicole) Sanford, Joseph Sanford and fiancé Jenna Schmitt, Cassandra (Joshua) Johnson, Kyle Davis, Caleb Davis, Samantha (Nicholas) Coungeris, Rachel (Benjamin) Mickelson, Chantelle (Levi) Mlinar, Autumn Moe. He has 13 great-grandchildren, and many nephews and nieces.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Wiona (Sidney) Sween, Oma (Francis) Rabehl, and Eleanor (Allen) Bergland; and nephew Willis Sween.

Special thank you to the staff at Ostrander Care & Rehab for their excellent care the past six months and to Moments Hospice.

Funeral services for Wayne will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, August 9, 2024, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Ostrander, Minn., with Pastor Herman Bakker officiating. He will be laid to rest at Bennington Cemetery. Visitation will be held Friday morning prior to the service, from 9-11 a.m. at the church.
