Are You Paying Attention?? It appears that soon the Supreme Court of the United States of America will overturn Roe v Wade. That law, Roe v Wade, has been the law of the land for 49 years. It allowed people the right to choose to have an abortion. How does it happen that now that right will be taken away?
As I understand it, conservative people have not been happy with this law. Apparently it has been obvious that for many years the plan was to eventually do away with Roe v Wade. If Roe v Wade allowed people to have an abortion, if that was their wish, how did that affect somebody else? Nobody was forcing an abortion on a person. It was their choice to have an abortion.
Well, I guess they will not have that choice anymore… Why does one person or one group have the right to take away the “right” of another person? Of course we have different opinions and different beliefs and that is a good thing. If you are opposed to having an abortion then don’t have one. If you feel you need/want an abortion then why shouldn’t you be able to have one? This may be very simply stated but it is how it is.
If you believe people should have the “choice” to have an abortion, then I would suggest you VOTE for senators, congressmen and presidents who also think you should have a “choice”! At the moment, approximately 60% of our population believes we should have a “choice.” Why should the minority be in charge?
I have a little story that my Mom told me. She went to Mabel High School and played basketball. She loved basketball and I guess she was pretty good. A new doctor came to town, Dr. Lannin, and he encouraged the school board to eliminate girls sports because “it was not good for them.” The school board listened and girls sports were gone. That seems like very backward thinking today, and that is how those of us who believe in “choice” think about overturning Roe v Wade!! Oh, you say this is about a “life,” not a “choice.” Yes, it may be about a life if you believe life begins at conception. And if you are so concerned about a “life” how about putting someone to death? We still do that. There are many, many, many personal reasons why someone would choose to abort a baby. I still say it is not my right or your right to tell somebody else what to do.

If somebody broke into a hospital, and killed a newborn baby, and they were caught, they would go to prison. But, however, in that same hospital, somebody got and abortion, and murdered there baby. Shouldn’t that person go to prison too?

The Roe v. Wade Supreme Court decision that legalized abortion was based on some pretty fantastic ‘logic.’ They said that there are ‘penumbras’ in the constitution from which ’emanations’ waft upwards. Penumbras. By that they meant that the constitution did not address issues the judges wanted in constitution.
Emanations.. By this they meant that it stunk that the constitution didn’t provide for ‘rights’ like abortioon. What to do? Make up new rights anyway. Afterall, there were penumbras you know and they stunk. The ’emanations’ made that very clear. Supposedly, but only if the Supreme Court ignored the constitution.
I believe it was Justice Scalia who said that the vast majority of the constitution was easy to interpret. All they had to do was read the words. So where are the words ‘penumbras’ and ’emanations?’

The Roe v. Wade Supreme Court decision was based on “emanations’ stemming from ‘penumbras’ in the constitution. Penumbras. That meant that the justices didn’t like the fact that rights like abortion aren’t in the constitution. Emanations. To provide more logic and a better basis for their ruling, the judges said the emanations provide even more evidence that they could create new, previously non-existent, rights. In other words, it stunk that those ‘rights’ weren’t there. Well shoot, they decided let’s create some new ones with those emanations wafting up from penumbras.
Whether you do or don’t support abortion, the constitution does not address it. Therefore, Roe v. Wade is manifestly unconstitutional. Abortion advocates should never have gotten those ‘rights’ through the Supreme Court and the Court itself should not have brought it forward for consideration.
