Alexander Klug obituary, Fillmore County Journal

Our hearts are broken at the loss of our dear son, Alex, age 34. Alex was a kind compassionate man, son, grandson, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin and friend.

Alex was born on May 8, 1990, the fourth son of Bill and Mary Clare (Augedahl) Klug and was eagerly greeted by his older brothers at home. They loved holding him and started training early in pitching and catching (the little rubber ball).

He was baptized and raised in the Catholic Faith, attended St. Mary’s School and graduated from Caledonia High School in 2008.

After graduation, Alex attended RCTC and played baseball for the Yellowjackets. He finished his education at Bethany Lutheran College, graduating with a BA in Sociology in 2014. He was employed at St. Peter Regional Treatment Center as a forensic support specialist for eight years.

He enjoyed all sports but especially excelled at baseball as a pitcher, playing on several town teams over the years. He also played softball and enjoyed playing golf and pool with friends.

In 2016, he met Megan Sutherland and her dog Bella and the three of them became a family. With the love and support of Megan and her family, Alex made Lake Crystal, Minn., his home where he made many friends. Alex’s personality, compassion and sense of humor will never be forgotten by those who were lucky to know him.

Alex is survived by his mom and dad, Clare and Bill; his brothers, nieces and nephews. Eric (Sara), Austin, Paige, Reid and Aubrie; Cory (Shannon), Connor, Carson, Brayden and Drew; Kevin (Nichole), Jacob, Kylie, and Parker; his love, Megan Sutherland and their dog Bella; Megan’s family Jim Sutherland, Vicky and Scott Moon, Larry Blackhowskie, Mike, Rachel and Justine.

He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, and close friends.

Alex’s gift of life was shared with those in need through tissue and bone donation.

Visitation will be held on Friday, May 31, 2024, from 4-7 p.m. at St. Mary’s Holy Family Hall in Caledonia, Minn., and also from 9:30-10:45 a.m. Saturday at the hall. Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 1, 2024, at 11 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Caledonia, Minn. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Caledonia. McCormick Funeral Home, Caledonia is assisting the family.

Donations may be made in Alex’s memory to the Caledonia High School Baseball Booster Club or to the choice of the donor.
