Aaron Klompenhower, age 89, of Preston, died February 7, 2022, at the Gundersen Harmony Care Center in Harmony, Minn.
Aaron Klompenhower was born November 9, 1932, in Preston, Minn., to David and Frieda (Barth) Klompenhower. He was very proud of the fact that he shared the same birthday as his mother. Aaron served in the Army from February 4, 1953 – December 8, 1954, and was stationed in Korea. On December 19, 1958, he was united in marriage to Janet K. Buss at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Spring Valley, Minn., and to this union a son, David, was born in 1961. Aaron enjoyed fishing and camping with his family and grandkids, and was an avid football and baseball fan.
Aaron is survived by his son David (Judy) Klompenhower of Rochester, Minn.; grandchildren Ryan (fiance Shannon Wimmer; Tristan, Collin, and Trinity Nelson) Klompenhower of Kasson, Minn., Reed (Amy Cross) Klompenhower of Rochester, Minn., Leah Klompenhower of Woodbury, Minn., and Riley Klompenhower of Rochester, Minn.; and brother Richard (Jane) Klompenhower of Preston, Minn.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Janet in 2017, sister Fern (Emil) Olson, brother Robert (Virginia) Klompenhower, and sister-in-law Irma (Lawrence “Mick”) Rathbun.
Memorial services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, February 11, 2022, at Christ Lutheran Church in Preston, Minn., with Pastor Kurt Bockoven officiating. Burial will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday at the Minnesota State Veterans cemetery in Preston. Visitation will be held from 10-11 a.m. prior to the service at the church. Due to a rise in COVID-19 cases, the family requests that masks be worn.
