In spite of all the crises in our country, I have had the best summer that I’ve had in about 20 years. Because of COVID, my husband and I have mostly been working from home. I find that I take a lunch and go for a bike ride for 20 minutes a day all around Harmony where I live.
I’ve been watching the “slices of life” that go on in our little town and have heartfelt reactions. Our little town tries hard to provide quality of life and being out and about more has reminded me that it delivers.
This town has three amazing parks and playgrounds which include a new playground going in by the community center. We are even getting a splash pad at the trailhead park. Our community center provides a great place to hall walk, throw balls for my dog in the field and use its auditorium, rooms and library.
People are kind here and respect each other’s differences of opinions. My block has all sorts of political signs and everyone seems fine about opposing philosophies. Earlier in the year I posted a BLM (Black Lives Matter) sign in my yard, wondering how it would be received and within five minutes someone drove by on their golf cart and honked and cheered BLM.
I’m working with a committee to get a dog park built in town, (if you want to join us, or just show your support, get in contact with me), we have a great golf course and lots of wonderful meat and potato businesses in town.
The real estate and taxes here are still very manageable. For a little town, it really packs a punch. I want to thank all of the Harmony neighbors for keeping our little “Mayberry” pertinent and safe and cheerful. I’ve been here over 30 years, and would encourage anyone to join us!
