Football: Return Scores Highlight FC Win at L-A

October 26, 2026 by Paul Trende Leave a Comment

In the rain, multiple Fillmore Central defenders including prominently Jeremiah Bushman (#55), Joseph Otto (#77), and Erik Tieskotter (#72) get pressure on Lewiston-Altura quarterback Bennett Bonow in the Falcons’ 55-6 win. The pressure forced an interception by Carson Bothun. Bushman (punt block) and Bothun (interception return) each scored non-offensive touchdowns for FC in the game.

A year ago, they played for the Section 1A title. But in this year’s rematch, a week seven game of Fillmore Central (2-1, 6-1) and Lewiston-Altura (0-3, 0-6) was not so marquee. In the rain, Chris Mensink’s Falcons blocked a punt and returned an interception for touchdowns. They also ran for six touchdowns in a controlling 55-6 win. The punt block came as the first half waned, with Falcon Jake Kotek blocking the Bennett Bonow boot and Jeremiah Bushman recovering it and dive-rolling into the end zone (1-yard). It was FC’s second punt block TD of the year. It helped FC go to half up 35-0. To begin the second half, Carson Bothun intercepted a Bonow pass and returned it 15-yards for a score, making it 41-0. Bothun had two interceptions in the game. When the offense was on the field, L-A was fed a steady diet of run. FC pounded out 251 yards on the ground. Grant Daniels (16-125 rushing; 24-yard reception) ran for three scores. Quinci Kaase (9-47 rushing; 2-33 receiving), Jackson Hildebrandt (5-yard TD run), and Brady Arnold (8-yard TD run) also scored on the ground. Quarterback Bridon Bahl only attempted four passes (3 of 4, 57 yards). With the win, FC (3-1 Mid-South-Green, 6-1 overall) won its fourth in a row by a total score of 174-26. Southland (4-0, 6-1) has won the sub-district title with only a cross-district game left.
