Caledonia football, ranked #2 in Class AA, is on a roll. Hosting Randolph in a week six cross-district confrontation, it was all Warriors. Carl Fruechte’s group built a 48-0 halftime lead and said score was the final. Hard-running running back Bo Knutson turned five carries (75 yards) into three rushing touchdowns. He’s over 500 yards rushing on the season with 11 rushing TDs. The senior also had a 39-yard punt return TD in the first quarter. Junior quarterback Grant King was an efficient 5 of 6 for 103 yards and two scores. He hit Coby Hammell (4-85, TD receiving) and Tyson Ginther (18-yard TD) on scoring plays. King has thrown 10 TDs and just one interception on the season. Chase Hauser (5-34, TD rushing) also found paydirt for the Warriors. After missing a game, kicker Sean Wallin was 6 of 7 on PATs. Nolan Conway had an interception, which brought the Warriors’ season total in that department to 12. Seven different guys have a least one (Jacob Klug leads with four). Randolph was held under 100 yards total offense. The Warriors are out-scoring foes 236-41. Caledonia (5-0 in sub-district, 6-0 overall) leads the Southeast-Yellow over Rushford-Peterson (4-1, 5-1), Chatfield (3-2, 4-2), and Dover-Eyota (3-2, 4-2). The Warriors and Gophers renew their rivalry in Chatfield in week seven.
