Joanne Worden obituary, Fillmore County Journal

Joanne Katherine Worden, born January 14, 1939, passed away peacefully surrounded by family and loved ones on July 30, 2026, after a courageous battle with ovarian cancer. She was 87 years old.

Joanne was preceded in death by her parents Fredrich Welch and Winnie (Welch) Schroeder, stepfather Frederick Schroeder, and grandson Joshua.

She is survived by her loving children Allen (Donna), David (Marguedy), Connie (Scott) Dovick, and Jason (Carrie); sisters Susan Dudley and Patricia (Jim) George, grandchildren Marcy, Kelly, Kathryn, Cole, Ivy, Laura and Daniel; four great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.

Joanne grew up as the oldest of three daughters, in Chatfield, Minnesota. She later moved to residences in various cities including Waseca, Richfield, a return to her hometown of Chatfield, Amery, Wisconsin, and lastly, Farmington, Minnesota. She worked many jobs in her lifetime, and never shied away from hard work, a lesson that she instilled in her children. She cherished the friends that she made in her workplace and remained close with them throughout her life. Joanne was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She found joy in hosting gatherings and spending time with her family and friends. Joanne loved the color red, and enjoyed many activities including reading, flower gardening, sewing, crocheting, latch-hook yarn creations, and taking care of her many dogs over the years. She enjoyed taking daily walks with her dogs and continued so until she was no longer able. A lifelong blood donor, she believed in generosity and helping others.

The family would like to thank the staff at Northfield Hospital and Amery Hospital, for their exceptional care.

A visitation will be held at 10 a.m. followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m., Thursday, August 6, 2026, at Bierman, Benson & Langehough Funeral Home (1316 Division Street S., Northfield, MN 55057). A luncheon will follow the service. Interment at St. Mary’s Cemetery (Chatfield, Minnesota) at a later date. Memorials preferred to the American Cancer Society. Arrangements are with the Bierman, Benson, & Langehough Funeral Home of Northfield. www.northfieldfuneral.com.
