Roger Winters

Roger Winters obituary, Fillmore County Journal

Roger Winters, 84, passed away peacefully on June 11, 2026, after a courageous journey with dementia.

Born on May 9, 1942, Roger lived a life filled with adventure, laughter, and deep love for his family.

Roger was an outdoorsman at heart who found joy in fishing and hunting. He was known for his spirited personality, quick wit, and the playful, “spicy” sense of humor that kept family and friends on their toes. Whether sharing stories, spending time outdoors, or simply enjoying the company of those he loved, Roger lived life on his own terms.

Above all else, Roger cherished his family. He was a devoted husband to his wife Peggy, and a loving father to Matt (Tina), Ryan, and Heidi (Dan). His greatest pride was watching his family grow and spending time with his grandchildren: Miranda, Amber, Anjelique, Kailee, Jaiden, Lysa, Ella, Noah, Kaylee and Carter; and his great-grandchildren: Kevin, Aaliyah and Ryleigh.

Roger also had a special place in his heart for the many dogs that shared his life over the years. Their companionship brought him great comfort and happiness.

Roger leaves behind countless memories of fishing trips, hunting adventures, family gatherings, and moments filled with laughter. Though he will be deeply missed, his legacy lives on through the family he loved so dearly and the memories they will forever cherish.

A beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend, Roger’s presence leaves a void that can never be filled, but his love and spirit will remain in the hearts of all who knew him.

“Those we love don’t go away; they walk beside us every day. Unseen, unheard, but always near.”

A graveside service will be held on Thursday, June 18, 2026, at 2 p.m. at Bennington Township Cemetery.

Hindt Funeral Home in Spring Valley is assisting the family. Online condolences may be left at www.hindtfuneralhomes.com.
