The mecca for Section 1A golf resides in Rushford-Peterson in 2026. The Trojan boys, the same as last year’s state fourth place squad, did as expected and repeated. But the girls got past Lanesboro to also win a 1A title. Simultaneously, Burro junior Jack Brogle grabbed his third consecutive 1A individual championship.
The R-P guys (651) topped second place Blooming Prairie (682) by 31 strokes. The Trojans were 18 strokes better than last year’s 669 score. L-A (703), FC (709), Hayfield (714), Lanesboro (716), W-K (742), and Southland (743) rounded out the eight teams that made Day 2. Kingsland, Houston, and GMLO did not. R-P had three in the top four with Sam LaFleur (39/37/39/43 > 158) taking second, Will LaFleur (41/41/41/37 > 160) third, and Jaxson Meldahl (40/42/41/39 > 162) tying for fourth. Will had a team-best four birdies. Sam (161) led R-P last year. The Trojan’s fourth best golfer, Kellen Drinkall (42/49/42/40 > 173) tied for 14th place. Jace Dvorak (41/48/40/45 > 174) took 18th. Gus Hoiland (180) was their sixth. The meet medalist, for a third straight year, was Lanesboro’s Jack Brogle. Earning his fourth trip to state, the junior (35/38/39/40 > 152) was six strokes better than S-LaFleur. Brogle notched five birdies and three double bogeys. He shot 157s to claim the last two titles. Also making state individually was FC’s Brody Srsen (45/39/40/43 > 167), who took eighth and grabbed the last spot. Srsen earned his third straight state trip. He was runner-up to Brogle last year. Kingsland’s top finisher was KD Reiland (12th-tie, 172). Falcons Graysen Ostrom (179) and Bennett Miller (180) tied for 19th and tied for 21st place. Houston’s top golfer Treyton Kubitz (180) also tied for 21st place. Forty-five guys made Day 2 and 66 total compete at the two-day event, with 18 holes each day, at the 18-hole par-71 Eastwood Golf Course in Rochester.
On the girls’ side, R-P became the first team since 2013 not named Fillmore Central to win the 1A title.
After shooting 887 and taking fourth last year, the Trojans topped last year’s runner-up, Lanesboro, 744 to 756. FC (813), GMLO (835), and Southland (871) rounded out the teams playing both days. Hayfield, G-E, W-K, BP, Kingsland, Houston, and L-A were either incomplete or did not make day two. R-P’s scoring foursome all made the top 15, whereas Lanesboro had three do so. Sophomore Adalyn Colbenson (45/43/42/39 > 169) took third to lead R-P. She took 19th last year with a 205 (36 strokes better). Freshman Brynn Dvorak (47/46/45/49 > 186) tied for 7th place. Her highlight was an eagle on a par-four. Freshman Addison Drinkall (50/49/47/46 > 192) took 11th place. Neither Dvorak or Drinkall golfed on last year’s section team. Sophomore Lauren Volkman (51/45/50/51 > 197) took 15th place. She took 33rd a year ago with a 243 (46 strokes better). Adalynn Hoel (27th place > 217) and Ella Timm (38th place > 244) also competed. Lanesboro had the meet runner-up in Addison McCabe (44/39/40/44 > 167) and Jentrey Schreiber (46/46/41/47 > 180) took fourth. McCabe earned her third state bid while Schreiber repeated. Grace Tufte then took 10th (50/44/51/44 > 189) and their fourth scoring golfer was Prailey Willford (29th > 220). The meet medalist was Hayfield’s Carly Bronson (40/38/35/42 > 155), who topped McCabe by 12 strokes. Just missing the state cut were Maddie Topness (186) of FC and Gabby Tangren (188) of GMLO. Topness tied for 7th and was the first not to make state. Tangren took ninth. Each had multiple times played at state (Topness with FC’s team, Tangren qualifying individually). Falcon Ella Diersen (193) and Kingsland’s top golfer Emily Sargent (193) tied for 12th place. GMLO’s Paisley Kolling (203) and Madalyn Wytaske (209) took 17th and 20th places. Forty-five girls played both days while 52 total competed at the 18-hole par-71 Eastwood Golf Course in Rochester.
