June 1, 2026 by Karen Reisner Leave a Comment

At the May 26 meeting of the Chatfield City Council, a quote for Thurber Building repairs was approved. Councilors Dave Frank and Paul Novotny were absent.

A proposal/quote had been submitted in the amount of $64,435 by Benike Construction to repair and mitigate the water damage to the Fillmore Room and the mayor’s office. Tuckpointing repairs are needed along with the replacement and installation of four windows and window sills. On the inside new sheet rock will need to be installed which will need to be taped and painted. Salvaged wood trim will then be reinstalled and stained as needed.

It was recommended to approve the lower quote submitted by Greenfield (Clermont, Iowa) in the amount of $50,500. The funds for the shed are to be paid out of the Storm Fund.
