Manford Lowell House, 84, of Harmony, Minn., passed away peacefully at home, on May 19, 2026.
He was born on May 23, 1941, in Fillmore County, Minn., to Leo and Ruby (Shaw) House. He attended Preston High School and then enlisted in the United States Armed Forces, serving from 1960-1963. He was a member of the 101st Airborne Division, completing 20 jumps, just like his older brother Leo Jr. and his uncle LaVerne Shaw. He received a Parachutist Badge and an Expert Badge (rifle).
Manford spent his younger years working on neighboring farms and local factories before his 30-year history of working as an independent contractor – providing both painting and drywalling services. He was an avid lover of Rhythm & Blues music, often playing on one of his many guitars. He spent his life collecting music, ranging from artists such as BB King, Lightening Hopkins, Stevie Ray Vaughan to Elvis, Muddy Waters and Buddy Guy.
Manford had always admired fast cars and enjoyed riding around on his Harley Davidson motorcycle or riding his beloved horses, “Two-Bit” and “Lucy.” He shared his life with many dogs over the years as well.
Manford is survived by two brothers: Gary House of Winona, Minn., and Duane House of Preston, Minn.; five sisters: Pat McCallson of Westby, Wis., Bonnie Hegna of Austin, Minn., Gloria (Al) Misch of Trempealeu, Wis., Jewel (Gary) Konkel of Winona, Minn., and Barbara House-Smith of Canton, Minn.
He will now celebrate his 85th birthday with his parents: Leo and Ruby House, his brother Leo House Jr., and his three nephews: Wayne McCallson, Adam Lilla and Wesley House.
Ride the wind, Manford, ride the wind …
