Winning their first Section 1A True Team track and field meet since 2017 were the girls from LFCMC. Lori Anderson’s team usurped six-time defending champion GMLOKS, as the Burros clinched their ninth straight True Team state berth. The team’s four seniors – Elizabeth Clarke, Lillyan Kiehne, Aubrey Daniels, and Kyla Hellickson hold the trophy.

Shown with a few of their male counterparts, GMLOKS girls track and field took second at the Section 1A True Team meet but qualified for state as the first wild card team. It marks the seventh straight year Aaron Thauwald’s girls have qualified for state.

GMLOKS’ Tate Goergen, the reigning 800-meter state champ, RPH’s Isaac Rasmussen, a cross-country team state champ, and Cotter/Hope Lutheran’s Erik Semling, the reigning 3,200-meter and individual state cross country champ, compete amidst the 800-meters (plus the 1,600-meters) at the Section 1A True Team Meet. Each went 1-2-3 in some way or another at both. Rasmussen set the RPH 1,600 record while Goergen rest his own 800-meter record at the SEC Meet.

For the last six (competed) years, GMLOKS girls track and field has won the Section 1A True Team title, finishing first or second at state the past five years.  Meanwhile, LFCMC girls made state by wild card in every (competed) year from 2018 thru 2025 (2020 was not competed per COVID). Breaking the grip, LFCMC (1159) topped nearest foe GMLOKS (1125.5) for this year’s title. St. Charles (1097), PEM (994.5), RPH (981.5), Cotter/Hope Lutheran (912.5), and Chatfield (879) finished three thru seven (of 22). For LFCMC, it was about balance.  Autumn Rakosnik (5th 1,600, 8th 800, 9th Pole Vault) had three individual top 10s. Freshman Charlotte Ferrie had two top fives (3rd Long Jump, 5th 100).  Elizabeth Clarke (3rd Pole Vault), Eliza Cullen (3rd Discus), Kyla Hellickson (4th High Jump) and Ava Larson (5th Triple Jump) each had one.  All four relays finished top six, as the 4×100 (Fiona Horihan, Isabelle Peterson, Aubrey Daniels, Ferrie) took third, the 4×800 (Madi Zwart, Grace Kingsley, Stella Charlebois, Lillyan Kiehne) fourth, the 4×400 (Olivia Rindels, Cameron Wingert, Rakosnik, Hannah Vaalemoen) fifth, and the 4×200 (Horihan, Peterson, Daniels, Larson) sixth. Vaalemoen (8th 100, 10th 400), G-Kingsley (7th 3,200), Zwart (7th L-Jump), and Daniels (9th T-Jump) added top 10s. It is LFCMC’s ninth straight state appearance but first title since 2017).  For GMLOKS, Breeley Galle had three top 10 individual finishes (3rd 100-H & 300-H, 8th T-Jump). Gracie Foster (2nd 100-H, 10th 200), Keira Stier (4th 200, 10th 100) and Caisa Kolling (5th Discus, 8th Shot Put) had two each.   Amelia McCabe (4th P-Vault) and Kloe Meyer (3rd Shot) each had one top five, Brynlee Koenigs (7th 300-hurdles) a top 10.  The 4×100 (Koenigs, Lydia Redman, Foster, Stier) took first, the 4×200 (Redman, Brynna Nelson, Stier, Aliyah Holland) second.   RPH had a meet most six first places plus three seconds.  Senior Aubry Boldt was maybe the meet’s top performer with three first places (100-H > 15.78; L-Jump > 17’10 ½”; T-Jump > 34’11 ¾”) and a fifth (H-Jump). Emily Helgemoe won the 800-meters (2:21.41) setting a new program record that held since 2001 (Kristi Colbenson).  Caitlin Bauer won the 3,200 (11:12.79) while taking second in the 1,600.   Abby Prinsen won the Discus (113’11”) while taking ninth in the Shot.  Jorja Meyer had two seconds, Shot and Discus.  Also finishing top 10 were Quinn Potter (6th-tie P-Vault), Emilee Peterson (7th-tie H-Jump) and Kendall O’Donnell (9th 300-H).  Chatfield’s top finishers were Savannah Peterson (2nd 200, 6th 100), Lillie Stejskal (5th 300-H, 7th 200), and Adeline Schild (4th L-Jump, 7th 400).  The 4×400 (Lexi Kivimagi, Adelia Goldsmith, Stejskal, Schild) took third, the 4×200 (Sophia Goldsmith, A-Goldsmith, Addison Johnsrud, Peterson) fourth.   GMLOKS then finished first in a virtual meet for four Wild Card spots at the state meet, so they advance for a seventh straight year.  On the guys’ side, Cotter/HL (1226) took first over St. Charles (1216.5), PEM (1057.5), GMLOKS (1028.5), LFCMC (1006.5), RPH (1005.5), and Chatfield (994.5).  State 800-meter champion Tate Goergen was GMLOKS’ top guy with first (800 > 1:56.51), second (1,600), and third place (400) finishes. Bently Wiersma (5th L-Jump, 7th T-Jump) and Nathaniel Drees (9th 100, 10th 200) had two top 10s.  The 4×400 (N-Drees, Logan Drees, Carter Glynn, Hunter Hyde) took fourth. L-Drees (5th T-Jump), Ethan Schammel (6th H-Jump), Brede Nelsen (7th P-Vault), Hyde (9th 400), and Glynn (9th 800) also had top 10 finishes. For LFCMC, Brody Niemeyer had two top five’s (2nd Discus, 4th Shot), Parker Krage (3rd P-Vault) one.  The 4×100 (Krage, Cody Serfling, Davis Penhollow, Bridon Bahl) took second, the 4×200 (Quinci Kasse, Serfling, Penhollow, Bahl) fifth.  Adrian Rindels (7th 100), Joseph Otto (8th Shot), Andrew Brown (9th 3,200), and Teague Tessum (10th 300-H) finished top 10.  For RPH, distance guys led the way.  Isaac Rasmussen took second (800) and third (1,600).  He set the program mark in the 1,600 (4:21.37) breaking that of Austin O’Hare (2014). Brennan Kunst took third (3,200) and ninth (1,600).  Aaron Ploetz (7th 800) and Will Jewison (6th 3,200) also finished top 10.  Thrower Chace Drazkowski (1st Shot > 54’6 ½”, 3rd Discus) had RPH’s sole first.  Logan Kinstler (5th Shot) added a throwing top five.  Hunter Rislov (5th 400, 9th 200) had two top 10s. The 4×800 (Jewison, Cole Timm, Ploetz, Kunst) took second.  For Chatfield, Ross Stoehr (4th 110-H, 4th H-Jump, 7th 300-H) and then Lane Schmaltz (6th P-Vault, 7th 400) led the way.  Relays were strong, as the 4×400 (Ezra Schild, Schmaltz, Maddex Lanning, Kash McBroom) took second, the 4×200 (Schild, Brooks Lea, McBroom, Logan Pearson) third, and the 4×100 (John Thieke, Schild, Simon Erding, Lea) fifth. Notable races were the boys 800 and 1,600, which featured state champions RPH’s Rasmussen (team cross country), GMLOKS’ Goergen (800-meters), and Cotter/HL’s Erik Semling (individual cross country, 3,200-meters).  They went 1-2-3 one way or another in each event.
