Golf Preview Team Capsules

Rushford-Peterson Trojans

Head Coach: Luke Rye

Where We Left Off Last Year: R-P’s boys went 7-2-1 in the TRC/overall. They took second at the TRC meet but won Section 1A. They tied for fourth at state. Sam LaFleur (third), Jaxson Meldahl (fourth), Jace Dvorak (sixth), and Will LaFleur (8th) each finished top 10 at the 1A meet. The girls went 4-6 in the TRC/overall. They took sixth at the TRC Meet, fourth at the 1A Meet.

2026 Outlook: R-P’s boys return all six members of last year’s state team. Senior Will LaFleur (5th TRC Meet, 8th 1A Meet) was the highest state finisher last year, tying for 23rd place. Brother Sam LaFleur (TRC 11th-tie, 1A 3rd place), a sophomore who took 30th place at state, is a two-time state qualifier. Senior Jaxson Meldahl (11th TRC, 4th 1A) took 32nd at state. Sophomore Kellen Drinkall (19th TRC, 15th 1A), senior Jace Dvorak (1A 6th), and junior Gus Hoiland return. On the girls’ side, sophomore Adalyn Colbenson was the top 1A Meet finisher (19th place). Seniors Adalynn Hoel and Audrey Frick, sophomores Camdyn Rye and Lauren Volkman also return from the section team.

Lanesboro Burros

Head Coach: Tim Opat

Where We Left Off Last Year: Lanesboro’s boys and girls each went 10-0 in the SEC/overall to claim the regular season titles. The boys won the SEC Meet and took third at the 1A Meet. Jack Brogle was notably champion of both. He made state a third time, finishing 19th. A graduated Holdyn Willford was SEC runner-up. The girls were SEC Meet champs also and 1A runner-up. Jentrey Schreiber, Addison McCabe, and Ellie McCabe went 1-2-3 at the SEC Meet. A-McCabe (third), Schreiber (fifth), and E-McCabe (6th-tie) finished top 10 at sections, each making state. A-McCabe finished the highest, tying for 26th-place. E-McCabe graduated.

2026 Outlook: The Burros were regular season and post-season SEC champs last year and had four individual state qualifiers. Three return. The boys team graduated four of six post-season competitors. Junior Jack Brogle is the top returnee, a three-time state qualifier, last year’s SEC Meet and 1A Meet champion. He’s finished top 20 at state the past two years. Senior Jack Lawston is the only other SEC/1A Meet returnee. The girls return four off their SEC/1A Meet teams. Two-time state qualifier, freshman Addison McCabe heads the cast (2nd SEC Meet, 3rd 1A Meet) followed closely by junior Jentrey Schreiber (1st SEC, 5th 1A). Junior Grace Tufte (5th SEC) and sophomore Bella Thomas are other key returnees.

Caledonia Warriors

Head Coaches: Theresa Ellenz (girls), Nathan Wurm (boys)

Where We Left Off Last Year: Caledonia’s girls went 10-0 in the TRC and 11-0 overall to win the TRC East. They then finished second at the TRC Meet but did not make Day 2 of the 1AA Meet. Jazzlyn Hauser (3rd), Hayden Harms (7th), Alexis Sauer (9th), and Maggie Herman (10th-tie) finished top 10 at the TRC Meet. H-Harms took seventh at the 1AA Meet, qualifying for state. The boys went 4-5-1 in the TRC/overall. They took 10th at the TRC Meet and did not make Day 2 of the 1AA Meet. A graduated J.T. Hammell (9th-tie TRC) was their top golfer.

2026 Outlook: The girls team returns intact to defend its TRC-East crown. Junior Hayden Harms (7th TRC Meet, 7th 1A Meet) is a returning state qualifier. Junior Jazzlyn Hauzer (3rd TRC, 18th 1A) also finished top 20 at the post-season meets. Sophomores Ellison Harms (14th-tie TRC) and Alexis Sauer (9th TRC), junior Maggie Herman (10th-tie TRC), and freshman Emersyn Klug (14th-tie TRC) also return. The boys graduated four total off the 1A Meet team with seniors Evan Milde and Aiden Burns as the only two holdovers.

2026 Outlook: The Gopher boys return their entire TRC/1A Meet team from last year including their top golfer in junior Carson Harstad (3rd TRC). Harstad nearly made state in 2024 (10th place 1AA Meet) but took 30th last year. Fellow juniors Carter Ask (19th TRC), Kane Larson, and John Copeman return, as does sophomore Lincoln Goldsmith. Sophomore Brynn Tweten (6th TRC, 19th 1AA) is the top returning girl alongside senior Grace Copeman, but the girls had just three at the TRC/1AA Meets last season.

Maddie Topness tied for 10th (TRC), Ella Diersen tied for 10th (1A). With 13 total state qualifications, Scheevel, Mensink, and Miller graduated. FC’s boys went 6-2-2 in the TRC/overall. They took fourth at the TRC Meet, were 1A Meet runner-up. Brody Srsen notably took fourth at TRC Meet, was 1A runner-up. Aiden Arnold took seventh (1A). Both Srsen and Arnold qualified for state individually. Arnold graduated.

2026 Outlook: For the first time in a decade, the Falcon girls are not the clear cut 1A favorite. Three of five state golfers graduated (Myleigh Scheevel, Annika Mensink, Lily Miller). Senior Maddie Topness (TRC 10th place-tie, 1A 15th place) and sophomore Ella Diersen (TRC 19th, 1A 10th-tie) are the only two holdovers. The guys team lost four of six off the 1A Meet squad. Their two holdovers are junior Brody Srsen (4th TRC, 1A runner-up) and sophomore Bennett Miller (TRC 17th-tie, 1A 13th). Srsen has thrice competed on the state stage.

The girls also return three, a cast headed by two-time individual state qualifier junior Gabby Tangren (SEC 7th-tie, 1A 8th-tie).
