caledonia school board Abbreviated Board Meeting Minutes January 20, 2026

The Board of Education of Independent School District No. 299, Caledonia, Minnesota, met in a regular school board meeting in the elementary building room #162. The meeting was called to order by School Board Chair Mike Peterson at 4:02 p.m.  The Pledge of Allegiance was said. The school board members present were Julie Augedahl leaving at 4:35, Chad Harms, Leigh King, Melissa Marschall, Mike Peterson, and school board student representative Samantha Peters.  Also present were Craig Ihrke, Nathan Boler, John Wahlstrom, Gretchen Juan, Barb Meyer, Karen Schiltz, Kaitlin Longhauser, Kim Nielson, Jake Hebeisen, Becky Newgaard, Rachel Staggemeyer, Mason Staggemeyer, Lindsey Meyer, Emily Engan and Shannon Kochie.  Absent was Derek Adamson and Phoebe Lampert.

Moved by Melissa Marschall, seconded by Julie Augedahl to approve the agenda as presented.  Motion carried by a unanimous vote. The resolution accepting donations was moved by Leigh King, seconded by Chad Harms.  Motion carried by a unanimous vote. Moved by Leigh King, seconded by Melissa Marschall to approve the following consent agenda items: approve the electronic transfers and bills due and payable amounting to $926,555.76 along with electronic transfers from MSDLAF to Merchants Bank in the amount of $1,075,000.00; approve the 2026 Pay Equity Report as presented; accept the resignation of Maria Inglefield as a MSHS special education teacher effective at the end of the 2025-2026 school year with thanks for her past year of service to our school district; ratify Human Resources Coordinator/Office Manager contract for the 2025-2027 school years as presented; ratify Facilities Director contract for the 2025-2027 school years as presented; and terminate the employment of Hailey Gavin as a CAPS Care Teacher effective December 30, 2025. Motion carried by a unanimous vote. Moved by Mike Peterson, seconded by Julie Augedahl to approve the addition of a junior high gymnastics coach for the 2025-2026 school year. Moved by Julie Augedahl, seconded by Leigh King to approve the hiring of Kerrigan Meiners as the junior high gymnastics coach for the 2025-2026 school year at I/0 at $2,210.00.  Motion carried by unanimous vote. Moved by Leigh King, seconded by Chad Harms, to approve Option #1 of the 2026–2027 school year calendar as presented. Those voting in favor were Chad Harms, Leigh King, and Melissa Marschall. Opposed: Mike Peterson. Absent: Derek Adamson and Julie Augedahl. Motion carried. Moved by Melissa Marschall, seconded by Leigh King to adjourn the meeting at 5:02 p.m. Motion carried by a unanimous vote.
