Mabel-Canton football has never been shy about running the football under Coach Karl Urbaniak.  Versus Kingsland, the Cougars made the Knights beet red with all the running.  Senior Gavin Johnson ran for 250 yards on 39 carries with 4 TDs.  Freshman Cayden Tollefsrud ran for 249 yards on 18 carries and 2 TDs.  The duo accounted for all six Cougars TDs and all five two-point conversions.  M-C had all-run scoring drives of 65, 62, 47, 95, 60, and 42 yards.  The Cougars attempted just two passes.  After Knight William Jahn caused a sack and returned a fumble 48 yards for six in the first quarter, M-C scored 32 unanswered points to lead 32-8 at halftime.  James Howard scored on a 3-yard TD run in the third quarter to make it 32-14.  M-C then scored back-to-back to lead 46-14 in the fourth.  A Beau Wiersma to Ayden Howard 15-yard TD pass capped the scoring.  M-C took care of the Knights by a 46-20 final.  The Cougars had four interceptions (Alex Arneson two, Tollefsrud, Reid Crawford).  M-C won the total turnover-battle 5 to 1.  The Knights had a modest 114 yards on 31 carries on the ground.   Wiersma (1-2, 15 yards, TD passing, 5-39 rushing, 20-yard reception), Jahn (2-82 receiving), J-Howard (5-34, TD rushing), and Kaden Rath (8-20, 147 yards, 3 INTs, 5-25 rushing) had Kingsland’s stats.  M-C moves to 2-3.  Kingsland falls to 1-4.
