MINUTES

REGULAR MEETING OF THE SCHOOL BOARD

INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT #239

The regular meeting of the Rushford-Peterson School District #239 was called to order by Chairperson John Linder at 5:30 p.m. on Monday, May 18, 2020 at the Rushford-Peterson Schools Forum Room, 1000 Pine Meadows Lane, Rushford, MN 55971.   

Members Present: Chris Grindland, Valarie Howe, Joyce Iverson, John Linder, Jeff Michel, Bonnie Prinsen, & Kathy Wade

  Members Absent: None

Administration Present:  Superintendent Jon Thompson, Jake Timm and Lisa Lawston

Moved by Prinsen, seconded by Iverson to adopt the agenda with the following addition: Consent Agenda – Discussion regarding coaches “slush funds”.  Motion carried unanimously.

There were no public comments.

Moved by Michel, seconded by Wade to approve the following consent agenda items: April 20, 2020 Regular Monthly Meeting Minutes, Donation in the amount of $850 from Pheasants Forever for Trapshooting, April hand payables, wires and payroll liabilities in the amount of $250,802.46, April Payroll in the amount of $264,735.41, May Board Bills in the amount of $108,833.37; Personnel: Hire of Joe Hatch – Head Girls’ Basketball Coach and hire of Tiffany Doehling – Head Dance Team Coach. Motion carried unanimously.

Director Michel stated that he received an email regarding coaches having their own accounts. The board asked for more information and for the district to investigate more with the entities.

Moved by Iverson, seconded by Michel to approve the following costs for the construction of a garage: Beaver Builders Supply – $11,971.45, Rye Construction – $6,850 and R & R Construction, LLC. – $11,450 for a total cost of $30,271.45.  Motion carried unanimously.

Moved by Wade, seconded by Prinsen to approve the purchase of a Ventrac 4500Z Lawn tractor in the amount of $30,368.11. Motion carried unanimously.

Superintendent Thompson presented the Superintendent’s report.

Jake Timm gave a Middle School / High School update including trimester 3 grading, senior class trip refunds and senior award recipients.

Moved by Grindland, seconded by Michel, to adjourn the regular meeting at 6:35 PM. Motion carried unanimously.
