Jerome C. Hansen of Mankato died on Saturday, August 31, 2019.

Funeral services will be held at Hosanna Lutheran Church in Mankato, with Pastor Mike Omtvedt officiating on Wednesday, September 4, 2019, at 1 p.m.

Visitation will be held from 11-1 on Wednesday, September 4, 2019, at Hosanna Lutheran Church in Mankato.  Burial will be at the East Lutheran Cemetery, Delavan, Minn.  A lunch will be served prior to the burial.

Memorials may be donated to Hosanna Lutheran Church.

Jerry was born September 3, 1929, to Clarence J. and Theresa (Studness) Hansen on the family farm in Delavan, Minn.  He attended a one-room country school in the Delavan area and went to high school in Delavan, Minn.  After that, he went to the University of Minnesota School of Agriculture in St. Paul beginning in 1947. He entered the U.S. Army in April 1953, serving in Okinawa for 18 months until April 1955.

Jerry was a dedicated farmer. He owned and operated an independent insurance agency. He was very community-minded serving on the Delavan School Board and the Delavan Elevator Board. Jerry was a member of the Delavan Legion and the Korean War Vets. He and Helen spent multiple winters in Mesa, Arizona. He enjoyed membership in the Bullshippers, playing cards, square dancing and socializing of all kinds.

Jerry married Helen Ann Wettlaufer on November 8, 1953, at Easton, Minn.  They had and he is survived by his two daughters:  Anne (Steve) Rozek of Blaine, Minn., and Karen (Matt) Quanrud of Preston, Minn.  He is also survived by four grandchildren: Christopher, David, Matthew (Jacy), and Jennifer (Jordan); one sister, MaryAnn; and two sisters-in-law, Janet and Val.

He is preceded in death by his wife Helen, his parents, his mother and father-in-law, four brothers, and one sister.
