Gloria Karmona (Bratland) Roble, age 91, passed away at home after over a year battle with stomach cancer on January 11, 2024.
Gloria was born on October 10, 1932, in Spring Grove, Minn., the daughter of Kenneth and Gladys (Olson) Bratland. She spent 12 years at Spring Grove schools, graduating in 1951. She attended college in Minneapolis and worked for an insurance agency.
She married Burnell Roble on September 13, 1952, in Spring Grove. They were blessed with 71 years of marriage. They moved to Madison, Wis., in 1957 and spent 38 years there. She worked for the Madison Public School system for over 20 years as a librarian. Gloria and Burnell enjoyed years in Madison, joining many organizations and participated in their children’s schools and activities. They served three years as Co-Parent-Teacher Association Presidents.
Gloria was active in Epsilon Sigma Alpha, a national sorority serving the community and state, earning funds for St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. She served as Wisconsin State President, traveling in Wisconsin and nationwide. She was also active in the Social Order of the Beauceant, helping with hospitality events for the Order of Knights Templar and raising funds for the Eye Foundation.
Gloria and Burnell spent many years traveling in their motorhome on camping and fishing trips with family and friends. They enjoyed travels through all 50 states and many countries. After retirement, Gloria and Burnell moved back to Spring Grove in 1995 and enjoyed many years with family and friends.
She loved her flowers, especially pink roses, reading, and playing cards with family and friends.
The joy of her life was their three children: Steven (Patricia), Kyle (Becky), and Patricia (Michael). Their seven grandchildren are wonderful and have given so much joy and love: Kelvin, Shayla, and Tracy Bagley, Kendra (great-granddaughter Emma) and Amanda Roble (Niklas Jackson), and Benjamin (Emily) and Timothy Roble.
She was preceded in death by her parents Kenneth and Gladys Bratland, brothers-in-law Obert (Cecilia), Mike (Ruby), Raymond (Billie Jean), and Ernest Roble; and sister-in-law Charlotte (Lester) Wiegrefe.
Survivors include her husband Burnell, brother Gerald (Judy) Bratland, sister-in-law Signe (Ernest) Roble, Aunt Margie (Odell) Bratland, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Gloria was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, where she was baptized, confirmed, and married.
A Celebration of Gloria’s life will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church in Spring Grove on Saturday, January 27, 2024 at 2 p.m. (visitation 12-2 p.m.), followed by burial at Spring Grove cemetery. Pastor Lane Zaffke will officiate.
