The Fillmore County Board held a relatively brief meeting on March 28. Commissioner Randy Dahl was absent.
Sheriff John DeGeorge requested approval of a proposal from Northland Business Systems to replace the server for the PSAP (public safety answering point) logger, which is in need of replacement. The new server will be paid for out of 911 grant funds. With trade-in credit the new server will cost $21,945. This will cover all associated costs, including installation.
A Memorandum of Understanding with Law Enforcement Labor Services, Inc. Local 85 to add PSAP office position was approved.
Leroy Eickhoff, Lead Dispatcher, was promoted to PSAP Manager, effective March 31.
Domingo Kingsley, part-time dispatcher, was promoted to full-time dispatcher, effective March 31.
Jordan Rudolf, part-time jailer, was promoted to full-time jailer, effective March 31.
DeGeorge said they will need to advertise/post to maintain list to fill part-time positions.
Outreach for Congressman Brad Finstad
Keith Allen, district outreach representative, addressed the board. He reported Finstad had a farm at New Ulm and was a small business owner. In congress he serves on two committees: Armed Services (Veteran Affairs) and Agricultural. He serves on a subcommittee that controls 80% of the Farm Bill, which includes funding for SNAP and school nutrition.
Allen said their office is here for support when federal help is needed.
Commissioner Duane Bakke asked if there is movement in Washington to provide school lunches as there has been in Minnesota. Allen replied that at this point they don’t have funds for that, as they don’t have any more funds than they typically have. They are trying to make programs more effective. Commissioner Mitch Lentz said a lot of kids come to school hungry and go home hungry.
