Darrell Spitzer obituary, Fillmore County Journal

Darrell Herbert Spitzer, 77, of Chatfield, passed away Thursday, March 11, 2021, at his home.

Darrell was born March 4, 1944, in Chatfield, to Herb and Mary (Gathje) Spitzer.  On May 4, 1963, Darrell married Dianne Marie Hasley at the Redeemer Lutheran Church in Rochester.

Darrell worked at Sears Automotive as a manager.  He enjoyed spending time with his family, playing cards, and raising horses.  He also enjoyed watching Gun Smoke, The Virginian, and Guy Fieri.  Darrell and Dianne enjoyed camping at Bailey Park in Wabasha, Minn., for nine summers.  After Dianne’s passing in 2019, Darrell still went to the campground to be around his friends.

Darrell is survived by his two daughters, Darla (Marvin) Bushman of Chatfield and Debbie Eckhart of Stewartville; and two grandchildren, Morgan Bushman (Angel Ramirez Rojas) and Mitchell Eckhart, both from Rochester.

He is preceded in death by his parents Herb and Mary, wife Dianne, and parents-in-law Elger and Anita Hasley.

A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 10, 2021, at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church in Chatfield, with visitation from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the church.  Officiating will be Pastor Peter J. Haugen.  Burial will be in the St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery.

Memorials can be sent to Riley Funeral Home, 800 S Main St, Chatfield, Minn. 55923, Attn: Spitzer family.
