Adam Fravel, 30, who is facing two counts of 1st Degree Murder and two counts of 2nd Degree Murder in the death of Madeline Kingsbury, appeared in court on Tuesday, March 19, 2024, for the first of three pre-trial omnibus hearings. Kingsbury was reported missing on Friday, March 31, 2023, with her body discovered on June 7, 2023, hidden in a culvert along Highway 43 in eastern Fillmore County, Minn.
A motion was filed that requests the public be denied access to any audio or video statements made by Fravel to law enforcement during interviews with investigators on March 31, April 1, and April 2, 2023. This restriction included any exhibits offered by either party during the course of the pre-trial evidentiary hearing.
Fravel’s attorney, Zachary Bauer, has been seeking a change of venue, stating that Fravel would not receive a fair trial in Winona County due to the media coverage.
Winona County Judge Nancy Buytendorp is evaluating the possibility of holding the trial of Adam Fravel sometime in October or November 2024.
