As you navigate this newspaper each week, you’ll notice we dedicate a great amount of content and space to our area schools. We consider our schools to be a nucleus of our communities.
We cover school board meetings. We recognize the accomplishments of students in the areas of academics, arts, and sports. We publish tribute pages when individuals and teams advance to the next level at the end of a season. Whether it is for sports, speech, One Act Play, or the arts, we strive to recognize these accomplishments. We publish special pages for homecoming, prom and graduation.
Our schools are important, and that’s why we dedicate so much of what we do to recognize our young people, teachers, mentors, and coaches.
We are always striving to do better at the Fillmore County Journal. We are fortunate that we have our in-house web design company, SMG Web Design, which was launched 14 years ago in October 2009. General Manager Michelle Quanrud has led the web design company since May 2010, and she is always looking for ways in which we can improve our reader and advertiser experience on our website www.fillmorecountyjournal.com.
She recently began organizing the newspaper website in a way that readers can directly search for anything relating to their school district.
So, if you visit our website, and click on the tab titled “SCHOOLS,” you’ll see a list of all of the schools in our newspaper coverage area. If you click on your school mascot image, you’ll see everything relating to your school district.
While this makes it easier for our readers to keep up on what’s happening with their school district, it also allows for businesses to advertise on the newspaper website on a per school district basis.
This is just another way we strive to improve how we present our content. As always, we appreciate any and all feedback. Please check it out and let us know what you think.
Thanks again to Michelle at SMG Web Design for helping us find a better way to serve our readers and advertisers.
