Letter about Air. Water. Money…
To the Editor,
Air. Water. Money. I really like drinking water that is safe and clean. I really like breathing air without putrid manure odor and feedlot dust particles. I do not want my neighbors, friends, relatives, colleagues, county citizens, grandkids, or any child to be subjected to air or water that will harm them. I do not want my local tax to increase to pay for road repair from C.A.F.O. traffic. I do not want my home and farm value to plummet because no one else wanted to buy my bad air, contaminated water, or subsidize the extra road repair. Thee are only some of the real concerns I have when a large Confined Animal Feeding Operation wants to do business anywhere, but especially in this karst topography. Thirteen thousand hogs, 2,800 dairy cows, and 222,000 turkeys are examples of what the Fillmore County Planning Commission will consider allowing on February 6 at 7 p.m. in Room 601L, Fillmore County Courthouse. Come to learn, hear, and make your concern known.
Thank you,
Bonnie Haugen
