To the Editor,
I have never had children but I have always been interested in education. I see the latest bond issue for Fillmore Central failed, and it made me wonder why.
I don’t think it would have been put on the ballot if it had not been deemed necessary. Most businesses, when something is needed, they procure it. But when schools need something, it is up to the public to decide if they really need it. This does not seem quite right.
This has to do not only with the present but also the future. Don’t we want our children to have the best they can receive to prepare them for the future?
The cost would have been less than the cost of a cup of coffee per day. Our children’s future is certainly worth more than that.
Our citizens in the Fillmore-Central area are certainly not against the future of our children. I think they just hadn’t thought enough about the issue. Please think again about the cost vs the rewards.
Stay well and warm.
Thank you,
Harvey Benson
