To the Editor,
Most everyone knows something about Meals-On-Wheels, but what do you know about the entire process?
One day I came to the distribution center early and saw what goes into the operation. First the meals came from Caledonia to the distribution center in Mabel. They had been informed ahead of time how many meals would be needed at each destination, in each town that day. In a very busy fashion individual containers are filled for each spot in the area. That day I noticed that 17 went to Harmony. Food is taken from the large containers (from Caledonia) to fill individual size containers. Then all is carefully checked before being put into the large destination containers. All this takes much devotion by many devoted individuals, so others may eat for another day.
Like everything that we enjoy, nothing happens without the work of devoted individuals. REMEMBER THAT, every time we accept something that seems to happen “by itself.”
Happy autumn time,
Harvey Benson
