To the Editor,
Just imagine if HORRIFIC EVIL took place by a militant group from the United States of America and 1,200 people were massacred. Imagine if the leader of the affected nation decided to wipe them out and attacked the USA. Imagine that in two months time, the populations of citizens in the following towns in Minnesota were killed and there was nothing left but dead bodies under the rubble…
Caledonia – 2,822
La Crescent – 5,276
Houston – 983
Hokah – 555
Rushford – 1,815
Rushford Village – 793
Peterson – 232
Lanesboro – 723
Mabel – 705
Spring Grove – 1,238
Lewiston – 1,520
Preston – 1,314
A total of 17,271 human lives – men, women and CHILDREN. The ones left have nowhere to go, families dead, disease rampant, hungry and thirsty, nothing left but trauma that fuels despair and hate. Injured without medical care, told to move here to there-with no end to the violence in sight…
CAN WE FEEL COMPASSION IN THIS SEASON OF CELEBRATING THE BIRTH OF JESUS-THE PRINCE OF PEACE? Bethlehem in the occupied West Bank is not celebrating this year. Pray for peace and good will and give thanks that it’s not happening here; that it’s not our children and grandchildren under the rubble.
Merry Christmas,
Julie Buel
Rushford, Minn.
