This past summer, Dean Thomas, SE Grazing Specialist, helped develop a grazing system that has 250 cow/calf pairs.  The EQIP participant converted their expiring CRP land into a new rotational grazing system and Dean was able to use his knowledge and personal experience to help this producer with developing the pipeline layout, heavy use pads, water tanks, a new well, along with fencing and fence removal.  Dean and the participant worked alongside each other and were able to work with the electric company to trench electricity to the site to get power to the new well.  At the end of the day, this project turned out great with the help of EQIP funds and 1W1P funds.  This participant has been able to benefit with the 90% financial assistance.  If you struggled this year with your pastures running low of grass and had to start supplemental feeding early or want to graze more acres but need water, give us a call at 507-765-3879, ext. 3.
