Houston Ambulance Celebrates 60 Years

May 5, 2025 by Fillmore County Journal Leave a Comment

On April 26, the Houston community came together in a remarkable display of unity to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Houston Community Ambulance. The festivities began with a group photo of current ambulance crew members and a visit from Mayor Scott Wallace, who presented a commemorative plaque, marking the occasion with gratitude from the community.

Residents of all ages gathered to express their appreciation for the vital services the ambulance team provides. The event offered a variety of engaging activities, as well as a silent auction featuring generous donations from local businesses and residents, with all proceeds benefiting the Houston Ambulance service.

The Houston Museum contributed a collection of historical memorabilia, while the Lions Club showcased a commemorative video featuring both past and present ambulance crew members.  Each class at the Houston Elementary School created and displayed artwork featuring genuine and moving thank you messages for the Houston Community Ambulance. The Caledonia Ambulance Service also joined in to offer their congratulations, adding to the spirit of celebration.

Throughout the afternoon a steady stream of visitors kept the event vibrant and bustling. Guests had the opportunity to tour an ambulance and receive free blood pressure checks, thanks to new monitors recently purchased to enhance the quality of care the Houston Ambulance team provides.

This milestone anniversary not only honored the achievements of the past but also celebrated the dedication, community spirit, and service that continues to shape the future of the Houston area. It was clear to all how deeply the community values the sacrifices and commitment of the exceptional ambulance crew.
