Mayor Jeff Adamson called the October 14 meeting of the Eitzen City Council to order at 6:09 p.m.

Present at the meeting were council members Doug Meyer, Mitch Lange and Mayor Adamson. City Clerk Steve Schuldt was also in attendance.

A motion was made by Councilmember Meyer to approve the minutes from the September 9 city council meeting. The motion was seconded by Lange and carried.

City Clerk Schuldt presented the July financial reports for approval. A motion to approve the financial reports was made by Lange, seconded by Meyer and carried. The only question the mayor had for Schuldt was regarding two past due accounts.

The EPA citation is on hold. Mayor Adam said, “We received a bunch of paperwork and a final statement, and now it sounds like it’s under review again, and they’re looking at reducing the amount once again.” Schuldt said that this issue has been ongoing since 2022.

Mayor Adamson said he spoke with GSS on Monday, September 13. He informed them that there has not been any progress on the easement down by the sewer pond.  Adamson explained that GSS is patient and willing to wait. Adamson will keep them updated.

The community center project is coming along very nicely. The council agreed on the color of siding the mayor had selected, as it closely matches the current siding. The council praised the contractor, noting that they have been very accommodating and do excellent work. The project continues to move forward smoothly.

Councilmember Lange mentioned that there is a new house for sale in Eitzen. Everyone was surprised that the Habitat for Humanity house was for sale and that the organization was not seeking a family to purchase it. Confusion centered around the volunteer labor involved. Meyer remarked that he did not realize that Habitat for Humanity was in the real estate business. Mayor Adamson noted that it had been quite the adventure.

Mayor Adamson mentioned that the MiEnergy meeting was coming up and that he and Darrel Meyer would be attending. He asked that anyone else interested in attending to let him know ahead of time.

Councilmember Meyer moved to pay the bills. The motion was seconded by Lange. Motion carried.

The meeting was adjourned at 6:22 p.m.
