Pro tip: Not sure what to order? Start with a flight. Be sure to cleanse your palate with a cracker between sips to fully appreciate the variety of flavors. Photo by Charlene Corson Selbee

Harvest season is upon us, and the landscape is ablaze with fall. With perfect weather for a tour, there’s no better time to explore the three wineries, two distilleries, and four breweries that call Fillmore and Houston Counties home. A one-of-a-kind tour crafted just for you makes exploring the vibrant farming communities of Bluff Country a breeze.

Before you embark on your adventure through Bluff Country, please note that this tour is for those 21 and over. For everyone’s safety, designate a driver who will enjoy local non-alcoholic beverages like a refreshing bottle of Spring Grove root beer, ensuring a safe return home at the end of the day. Whether you enjoy a robust stout or a sour craft beer, a perfectly blended glass of wine, or a smooth bourbon, this tour has something for everyone.

To make your tour easier, the establishments are organized by town. Having personally visited seven of the nine locations, I can assure you that no two are alike, and there’s something to satisfy every palate.

In Spring Grove, you’ll find Fat Pat’s Brewery. Just up the road in Harmony, enjoy the flavors of Harmony Spirits before heading over to Lanesboro for a stop at Sylvan Brewing. Then drive up out of the valley through the rolling countryside to Fountain to Sugar Creek Vineyard & Meadery and Karst Brewing. Finally, at Spring Valley, your tour concludes at Four Daughters Vineyard and Bluff Brothers Brewing.

If you’re traveling from the opposite direction, you might want to consider starting in Spring Valley and concluding in Spring Grove. No matter your route, the key is to have fun, savor the flavors, and stay safe.

For those who wish to extend their stay, southeast Minnesota offers charming bed and -breakfasts, quaint shops, and scenic hiking trails. Whether you’re a seasoned traveler or a first-time visitor, Bluff Country’s beauty and hospitality ensures a memorable experience.
