Zachary Bauer, the attorney representing Adam Fravel in the case of the murder of Madeline Kingsbury, has sought a change of venue, citing the pre-trial publicity and community involvement as reasons for moving the trial out of Winona County, Minn.
Madeline Kingsbury, who resided in the city of Winona, disappeared on March 31, 2023. After roughly 2,000 volunteers searched for Madeline in the Fillmore County area over the course of a two-month period, her body was discovered in a culvert along Highway 43 between Rushford and Mabel on June 7, 2023.
After the discovery of Madeline’s body on June 7, Adam Fravel was arrested and charged with first degree murder.
In January 2024, Fravel’s legal team filed a motion to have the case dismissed and move the trial out of Winona County, expressing concerns about Fravel receiving a fair trial.
Judge Nancy Buytendorp ruled in favor of a change of venue. The change of venue and trial date have not yet been set.
