The Board of Education of Independent School District No. 299, Caledonia, Minnesota, met in a regular school board meeting in the elementary building room #162. The meeting was called to order by Chair Mike Peterson at 5:30 p.m. The Pledge of Allegiance was said. The school board members present were Derek Adamson, Tim Gunn, Leigh King, Melissa Marschall, Mike Peterson, Daniel Small arriving at 5:45 p.m., Spencer Yohe arriving at 5:50 p.m., and student school board representative Addison Fruechte. Also present were Craig Ihrke, Nathan Boler, John Wahlstrom, Gretchen Juan, Barb Meyer, and Karen Schiltz. Absent was student school board representative Samantha Peters.
Moved by Derek Adamson, seconded by Melissa Marschall to approve the agenda as presented. Motion carried by a unanimous vote. Moved by Mike Peterson, seconded by Leigh King to approve the following consent agenda items: approval of October 21, 2024, regular board meeting minutes, and November 8, 2024, special school board meeting minutes; approve the electronic transfers and bills due and payable amounting to $570,766.91 along with electronic transfers from MSDLAF to Merchants Bank in the amount of $900,000.00; approve the twelve-week maternity leave request from Grace Mikula beginning around the birth of her child on January 15, 2025, given there are no complications; approve the termination of employment of Denise Buxengard effective November 15, 2024; accept the resignation from Robbie Sobczak as the head girls’ golf coach with thanks for his past four years of service in this position; accept the resignation of Angela Tamke as the Juvenile Detention Center teacher effective November 22, 2024; accept the resignation of Madison Roraff effective November 18, 2024; and ratify the hiring of Sara Schroeder as the one act play advisor at IV/0 at $2,438.00 for the 2024-2025 school year. Motion carried by a unanimous vote. Moved by Mike Peterson, seconded by Derek Adamson to schedule the organizational school board meeting on Monday, January 6, 2025, at 6:00 p.m. in Room #162 of the elementary school building.
