Daycare Report Presented to Lanesboro School Board

The Lanesboro School Board spent much of their May 14 meeting discussing the Lanesboro Child Care Center, the school’s daycare. During the public comment period, Lexi Burt returned to ask about the recent resignation of assistant director McKenzie Hanson who had been hired in April. Kiel Koehler, a teacher for 28 years at Houston, teachers’ union president and rights advocate appeared before the Houston School Board on May 1 to present a level 3 grievance. Community Builders – Boutique Station Celebrating 5 Years with Fashion Show

Owner Amy Engelhart displays a hand-needlecrafted purse that she purchased at an antique store in La Crosse long before she decided to open Boutique Station. Coincidentally, the original owner of the purse lived just down the block from where Amy now lives on Steven’s Avenue in Rushford. Amy enjoys decorating the boutique with antique items.

Anyone who travels Highway 16 has probably noticed Boutique Station at the curve near Peterson. Hot pink columns highlight the former gas station that boasts “BOUTIQUE” in huge metal letters; a nearby custom painted Winnebago with a pink leopard design can’t be missed. At the regular Houston City Council meeting April 14, the council learned that the owl sculpture currently on display in the city park in Houston, Minn., is in need of repair. New IT Company for Houston Schools

At their April 3 meeting, the Houston School Board signed a new contract for IT services with CMConsultants, LLC. According to Superintendent Mary Morem, the school will save about $12,000 “right off the top” and there will be more savings on devices through the company.
