A school teacher asked her students to write an essay of 1,000 words describing something beautiful. One young student turned in a picture of a glorious sunset with flaming reds and oranges with dark, black clouds … but with no writing … The student then told the teacher, “One picture is worth a thousand words!!” I hope the teacher had a good sense of humor!
At the end of a particularly busy day, I came home and sat at the picnic table for a little while watching the sunset. In fact, here’s a picture of it … The sky was radiant with color and a gentle breeze filled the air. I sat at the picnic table and reflected on the day and I thought about the blessings of God’s love in Jesus Christ. As the sun sank lower in the sky, I just opened my heart in prayer to express gratitude for God’s gifts of grace, forgiveness, salvation and redeeming love.
As I looked at the amazing display of color and light in the sunset,I realized that one picture is worth a thousand words … I just sat there enthralled with the beautiful sunset and thanked God for his amazing love given in Jesus Christ.
I am thankful for you.
God’s blessings always!
Your friend,
Pastor Mark Woodward
