Julie Bangs, of Decorah, formerly of Mabel, Minnesota, died peacefully Wednesday, September 30, 2026, at the Eastern Star Nursing Home in Decorah.
Julie was born July 15, 1952, in Harmony, Minnesota, to Maloy, Sr. and Norma (Vickerman) Bangs. In 1971 she graduated from the Mabel-Canton High School. For several years she had worked at Rush Products in Rushford. She lived in the Newburg area until 2020 when she moved to Decorah. Julie was generous and kind, loved animals and loved to dance.
Julie is survived by her sisters Janice (Wally) Beuch of Decorah, Iowa, and Linda Benson of Decorah, Iowa; sister-in-law Phyllis Bangs, and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers: Maloy, Jr., Jerome, and Larry; sisters-in-law Jerilyn and Judith, nephew Shad Bangs, and great-niece Taylor Johnson.
Funeral service took place 2 p.m., Monday, October 5 at the Henrytown Lutheran Church in rural Harmony. Visitation was one hour prior to the service at the church. The Mengis Funeral Home in Mabel assisted with arrangements.
