According to Fillmore County Sheriff John DeGeorge, on Monday, September 28 at 1:15 pm, Fillmore County Sheriff’s Dispatch received a 911 call of a disturbance at a residence on Fairview Street in Spring Valley. A second 911 call reported that a male subject was outside the residence with a shotgun. Responding Fillmore County Deputies set up a perimeter, and established phone contact with the armed subject. Kingsland Public Schools were put on lockdown as a precaution, and a shelter in place advisory was issued by the Fillmore County Sheriff’s Office. At 2:22 p.m., the subject was safely taken into custody by Fillmore County Deputies. The lockdown and shelter in place advisory was then lifted.
Assisting at the scene were the Preston Police Department, Minnesota State Patrol, Minnesota Conservation Officer, and Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office.
The investigation into the incident is ongoing by the Fillmore County Sheriff’s Office.
