A Letter to One of the Most Courageous Presidents
Dear President Washington,
It is clear that you were a deter¬mined man who never feared to tell the truth. Undoubtedly, you and the other founders based this country on liberty, freedom, and justice- qualities which are not evident everywhere today. What thoughts were going through your mind when you were cross¬ing the Delaware? Were you thinking of the icy water? Were you thinking of all the men who died? Were you thinking of the freedom that might come of it and the freedom of future gen¬erations?
This country is here because of the brave men and women (including you) who fought and died for our freedom. By the grace of God, all those people helped build up this nation into the great nation it is today. I hope that Americans will always remember the great sacrifices you and your soldiers made for this country. According to Charles Lee, you were “first in war, first in peace, and first in the lives of your countrymen…”
