Grand Meadow Lutheran Church is celebrating our 150th anniversary in 2026. We have various events planned in the coming months. We have some of our previous pastors returning to lead us in worship as noted with the dates included below.  There will be various displays set up throughout the year to highlight some of the groups working in our church as well as some of the highlights of 150 years of history at Grand Meadow Lutheran Church. We will be displaying old pictures and momentos from over the years as well.  November will be the more traditional formal celebration with Bishop Regina Hassanally from our Synod coming and a meal following the service.  Our worship services start at 9 a.m. All are welcome to come and join us at any time throughout the year.

March 26, 1876, was the official date Grand Meadow Lutheran Church was organized.  Our Sunday School children sang “Happy Birthday” on Sunday, March 29, 2026, and we celebrated with cake and ice cream following the service.

April 19, 2026. Pastor Ann Siverling led worship with a service she did when she was pastor at GML, called Old Time Religion Service.  Jerry Denisen participated in the prayers and music of “Lord Listen to Our Children Praying.”

May 10, 2026. Pastor Gail Klavetter led worship for Throwback Sunday, remembering the 1950s when our current church building was built. People were invited to dress in suits, shirts and ties, dresses, gloves, hats or ‘50s attire to have a little fun with history. The service used some of the settings and hymns we used in the old red hymnals.  This was a day of celebration of history over the years.

September 27, 2026. Pastor Wayne Vogt will lead the worship service with the Bear Creek Boys playing special music for us.  One song that will be brought back is “Ancient Words.” This service celebrates that music has been an important part of our worship that we have enjoyed over the years.

November 15, 2026. Formal celebration with a sit-down meal, speakers from the church and former pastors and some fun activities for all. Bishop Regina Hassanally will be joining us for this service and will deliver the sermon, offering her guidance and words of inspiration as part of our traditional formal anniversary celebration. Following the service, everyone is invited to stay for a meal and fellowship together.

We are having fun celebrating our anniversary and look forward to reconnecting with those we have met and worshiped with throughout the years.  Please look for more details and any updates to these events on the Grand Meadow Lutheran Church Facebook page.
