Tracy Crain obituary, Fillmore County Journal

Tracy Lynn Crain, 64, of Winona, Minn., passed away on Sunday, April 26, 2026, at Winona Health in Winona, Minn.

Tracy was born on November 10, 1961, to Ronald Elzea and Lois Aakre in La Crosse, Wis., and was lovingly raised by Lois and Larry Lange on a farm north of Rushford, Minn. Tracy was the oldest child of Lois and had five siblings.

Tracy spent her childhood around the Rushford area, graduating from Rushford High School in 1980. She met Billy Sabin at University of Minnesota Technical College – Waseca, and they married in 1984, divorcing in 1987.

Tracy met Ronald Wilk in Blue Earth, Minn., and moved with him to Phoenix, Ariz., in 1992. They welcomed their first daughter, Amber in 1993, and second daughter, April in 1997.

In 1998, she married Charles Crain and moved to Fernley, Nev., where she and her daughters spent the next 12 years. During her time in Fernley, she worked for Amazon and would often travel to different locations where new Amazon warehouses were built to help train new staff. She was also a prominent member of the Fernley First Baptist Church.

Tracy and her daughters moved back to Rushford, Minn., to be surrounded by her family in 2010. Soon after, she started her job at Benchmark Electronics. Tracy would travel regularly between the Winona and Rochester locations, often volunteering to drive her coworkers who needed to travel as well. Winona’s charm won over Tracy’s heart, and she settled there for the remainder of her life, living with her good friend Laurie, and then with her partner Billy Sabin after they reconnected.

Tracy spent many hours putting together puzzles, playing games with her family, sitting outside, reading a good book, and writing her own stories and poems. She was always up for a road trip, traveling from Nevada to Minnesota each summer when her daughters were young, and her most recent adventure was a trip to Nevada with her partner Billy.

Tracy is survived by her daughters Amber (Alex) Osland and April Stone (Sara Jones), stepson John (Makenzie) Stone, siblings Holly Lange, Heidi (Shawn) Lee, and Todd Sipe (Bonnie Algera); brother-in-law Bruce Williams, and her partner Billy Sabin.

She was preceded in death by her parents Ronald and Lois, stepfather Larry, grandparents, sister Melanie Williams, and brother Shawn Sipe.

A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. on Monday, May 4, 2026, at Hoff Funeral Home in Rushford, Minn., with visitation starting at 2 p.m. until the time of service. The service will be live-streamed through a link on Hoff Funeral Home’s website.

Hoff Funeral Home Rushford is assisting the family.
